Bushmills Black Bush

Apparently “Black” whiskey blends are a thing now. Whatever.  Bushmills comes from Ireland’s oldest distillery, the aptly named Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim.  Like Jameson’s Black Barrel Reserve, Black Bush is aged Continue reading

Frumpy Cat #2

24 Jun

Powee and I have been listening to an awful lot of Disclosure lately.  The debut album, Settle, should ship from Amazon tomorrow.  Unfortunately, I’ve been infected with restless, acute viral nasopharyngitis and it’s manifested with snot-rags and an inability to dance.   Continue reading

The First Quarter of 2013 in Music

The Joy Formidable at Upstate Concert Hall (4/14/2013)

2 May

The Joy Formidable TicketIt’s only a few weeks late!

Since the old Northern Lights venue in Clifton Park, NY has changed hands and been renamed The Upstate Concert Hall the shows have gotten a lot better.  1) It seems as though they have finally put some capable person in charge of the acoustics so that they don’t sound absolutely awful at every show, and 2) They actually attract acts worth seeing; there are still bullshit stoner cover bands which wrangle the desperate, scene-less 40&50-somethings, but NYC’s A$AP Rocky was in Upstate New York a few months back, Foals play there this coming Monday and Wales’ The Joy Formidable Continue reading
