During a Bills game halftime a few weeks back, Joeboy (I’m sick of referring to him as joeb87) and I decided to take a stroll down to Lark Street. We had both consumed more than two bowls of chili and thought we could use a drink. Water would have been the best choice of course, but we decided on smoothies; cold milk and fruit on hot chili (guh).
The café itself is pretty tiny with a few tables and a very low ceiling which I actually enjoyed because it made me feel tall. Joeboy was nice enough to treat me to my smoothie and so, in gratitude, I made him order me a “Smoochie” just so he would look like a total asshole in front of the girl at the register. Joey, being the hipster that he is, ordered a smoothie that was on some outdated menu that he found in a stack. Always original. My smoothie was delicious and I slurped it right down. Joe, who had been there before, enjoyed his too.
One thing I have to say is don’t go there if you’re in a hurry. It has a very laid back (“chill”) atmosphere and there’s usually only one person behind the counter. That, combined with the fact that the orders usually require some preparation, makes for a five-minute order. Eh, bring a Metroland with you or something. Joeboy and I started talking about picklebacks and made friends with two other dudes while we were waiting.
Lil’ Buddha also has a number of teas, fresh juices and food items on the menu. They offer vegan options too, so grab your granola-munching buddies and give it a shot. I’ll have to try some of the other fare the next time I go back.
